Late Payment Letter
This late payment letter can be used in an attempt to remove 30-day lates from your credit reports. However, if the late payment you wish to dispute is set to fall off your credit reports, there is no need for disputing.

Dear: To Whom It Concern (Exact Name If Possible)
I am finally getting a chance to take a very close look at where I am financially. I realize that I've not handled my credit as well as other financial areas. And after carefully reviewing my credit reports, I see where I made a big mistake with your company in March of 2002. I'm hoping you will consider my plea in this letter.
The reason for that one-time late payment was that I was in the final weeks of my pregnancy but found myself being admitted two weeks early. I gave birth to my first child, a bouncing baby boy who weighed 6.5 ounces.
I really did think my financial affairs were in order until my return and being settled. (This is just an example; please use your reason).
I am not trying to make excuses for my behavior but wanted to plea my case in writing. That's what your customer service representative, Mrs. Jenny Franklin, suggested even though she told me there would be no guarantee but that the company was fair.
Therefore, I'm writing this letter to see if you'd make a goodwill faith adjustment to the credit reporting bureaus (Only list the bureau the account is actually on). I really need my credit reports to report never late for that one time as I've been on time every since and even before that late. I did not realize how bad 30-day lates could hurt until now.
Please let me know if you need more information to make a decision. The credit reports all have this number listed as the account number 3241434297652169. I hope there's a thing called a second chance at your company as Mrs. Franklin suggested and look forward to your written reply and a positive outcome.
Sincerely yours,
You know who I am
