Credit Dispute Letter
A credit dispute letter is what you will send to a creditor who fails to update your credit reports. Maybe you have filed bankruptcy and it was granted a discharge but the trade line on the credit report is still listing you as owing, it is showing a balance, and they show months late.

Dear: To Any It Concerns (Specific Person If Possible)
My name is (your name). Please consider this credit dispute letter as it disputes how you are reporting information on my credit reports (state/name the reports where the error is listed only). It is ridiculous what I am being put through just to get this information to correctly report. I thought the purpose of bankruptcy was to get a fresh start.
I dispute credit card number 2311659981346756. The information in dispute is beyond our discharge date of Oct. 4, 2000. It also includes things such as date closed 2003, days late 120, and balance $3500.
According to our bankruptcy attorney who handled the case and several other attorneys, the only thing this credit card account should show now is "Included In Bankruptcy."
We've been living in a one-bedroom, one-bath home long enough and need a larger home. Yet, we are unable to receive a construction loan because of my credit scores. In fact, we can't get any type loan.
You have been provided with a copy of this discharge back in Oct. 2000. You received this information from our attorney and the courts and still you came back and stated that the account in question was accurate.
This inaccurate information has caused financial hardship, emotional anguish, attempts to collect that have turned into harassment, and now employment loss (only state what you can actually prove). Therefore, to help your company I've enclosed a copy of my bankruptcy filing and discharge (only show their listing).
Consider this our final attempt! Get this item corrected within the credit bureaus and other sources upon 30-days of receipt of this letter. You'll need to send me written correspondence back to the address provided below that acknowledges the changes or we plan to see you in court. That’s 30-days and no longer!
Sincerely Yours,
